Proverbs 23:7 says “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he”.
We do not have any pets, but there is a black cat that always wants to come into our garden. It sneaks in under the gate at the back, and it really winds me up. This cat always comes into the back garden; I sit in my conservatory and I see it coming through. I start chasing it away, because I know if I let it go in my garden, it is going to relieve itself in there. That is the problem.
Same thing, with those thoughts that you have in your mind. If you allow negative thoughts to come in your mind, the next thing is that they will relieve themselves, start growing, and start spreading.
That is why any stray cat that tries to come into your mind must be shooed away by the Word of God. Protect your mind. Do not allow that cat in the garden. Suicidal thoughts come into your mind just like they did to Elijah, but he had an encounter with God and that helped him through this obstacle.
For every negative thought that comes into your mind, replace it with a positive thought from God’s Word.
See the three examples below:
1. If the devil whispers in your ear and says this assignment is impossible, replace that with Mark 9:23 and say, “All things are possible”.
2. If the devil tells your mind that you are afraid of something, you need to replace that with 2 Timothy 1:7 and say “I do not have the spirit of fear”.
3. If you are worried or anxious about your ill health, declare that “By His stripes I am healed” according to Isaiah 53.
